Project Description:
This project involved the replacement of (2) 1000 tons cooling towers, located on the roof of the Elm Street UNT Campus in downtown Dallas.

Due to the unique and complicated nature of this project, Technical Advisors, Inc. (TA) was part of a design/built team.  TA has an IDIQ contract with the University of North Texas to perform MEP and Fire Safety studies and design on UNT’s various campuses.

The ultimate challenge was to keep the existing HVAC system operable during the replacement process.  Several options were presented to the client and final documents were prepared by the team.

Coordination was of the utmost importance with the clients, UNT system and the city officials.

The project was successfully completed and the new towers were installed after modifications were performed on the cooling tower structure and the condenser water loop.  Energy efficiency was also achieved.  This project was successfully completed within the budget and schedule.

Project was a design/build renovation project
